Niagara Region and its Niagara Children’s Water Festival partners City of St. Catharines, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority, Ontario Power Generation and Brock University, are pleased to offer a virtual water festival to provide children with an interactive opportunity to learn about water.
Teachers and parents can find the festival and the activities on the Niagara Region website <https://www.niagararegion.ca/waterfestival/virtual/default.aspx?topic=1>.
The Niagara Children’s Water Festival Steering Committee worked to design a set of learning activities for a four-day virtual water festival. Each day focuses on one of four water themes from the festival:
- * Water protectio
- * Water attitude
- * Water science
- * Water technology
The online version of the festival <https://www.niagararegion.ca/waterfestival/virtual/default.aspx?topic=1>pulls together a variety of educational resources, which teachers can share with their students through remote learning, or caregivers / parents can do with their children on their own.
The resources cover the themes and key messages of some of our most popular water festival activity centres.
Students may choose one or two activities each day based on which ones interest them the most, or teachers and parents / caregivers may choose one or two activities each day based on which best complement your curriculum.
The Niagara Children’s Water Festival Steering Committee made the decision earlier this year to cancel its popular water festival due to COVID-19.
The in-person Festival was to take place April 28 to May 1 at Brock University, for grade three and four students in Niagara.
