(A Brief Foreword Note– Doug Youmans’ comment was originally posted in Niagara At Large this past April 10th as a response to a News Release circulated by the Office of Ontario Premier Doug Ford, headlined; Ontario Significantly Expanding COVID-19 testing. By Doug Youmans –
I realize the Premier made a big show (at a COVID-19 press briefing recently) of his outrage over the lack of testing, but wasn’t he the one at the controls of who got tested, how many tests were in circulation, and how much funding was in place to ensure those things were happening.
Strangely, however, he reacts with outrage to the news Ontarians have largely been left to hope and stay home whenever they experienced COVID-19 symptoms.
While there may have been testing for those requiring hospitalization, nothing was being offered to the rest of the population as medical professionals had no choice but to turn those experiencing milder symptoms away and hope they didn’t infect anyone else.
Of course, that meant all that tracking and hunting down people who may have come down with the virus to prevent community spread was a fantasy in Ontario. But when boxes of needed medical supplies needed to be unloaded, he and camera swung into action.
An absolute disgrace.
