“He’s now president for life. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.” – U.S. President Trump, seemingly “joking” to an adoring audience of supporters at a May 2018 Florida fundraiser about a power grab that had just been made by China’s president, Xi Jinping, to rule his country for life

“Donald Trump is functionally a monarch at this point. … If the king does it, it’s okay.” – American historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer Jon Meacham, shortly after Moscow Mitch delivered Trump an acquittal shortly after the sham of an “impeachment trial” held in what is left of the U.S. Senate this January
“Every public official that I know believes that his election (in 2020) is in the public interest,” said Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard University law professor, acquaintance of convicted sex abuser Jeffrey Epstein and member of Trump’s legal team from hell, during what so many mainstream American media lemmings dutifully called an “impeachment trial.”
“If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected, in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment,” added Dershowitz before every Republican senator except the now banished Mitt Romney voted like zombies in agreement.
In a country that, as long as I can remember, has taken so much pride in boasting that it is “the greatest democracy the world has ever known” and that “no one, not even the president, is above the law,” how can this be?
Let’s leave the final words on that one with Trump, himself.
“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” he boasted during the 2016 presidential election campaign.
“I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. … Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.” – Donald Trump, from the infamous Access Hollywood, tape, recorded in 2005 while he was still just a con man on reality TV.
“Nobody knows the system better than me, which is why I alone can fix it” – Trump in 2016, while accepting the Republican presidential nomination before thousands of elated supporters
“I am the chosen one,” His Majesty bellowed more recently to reporters on the lawns of the White House.
‘The Chosen One!’
A recent video, produced by a group of ex-Republican Party operatives calling themselves “The Lincoln Project,” shows just how rapturous those words ring for right-wing evangelical Christians in America. To watch it, click on the screen below –
One final message for our American neighbours on this Presidents Day, and it comes in the form of a lawn sign that one of my friends from Massachusetts cared enough to share –
My response to my friend in the great Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to all of my friends and neighours in the United States is this –
In hope of a positive election result in November that throws the KING out and restores some semblance of justice, decency and democracy in a country that I live next to and love, and in honor of planned parenthood, I will be sure to send the image of this lawn sign to all of my good friends in the Buffalo, New York area
