Michael Tomaino has been nominated to lead the Green Party in NiagaraCentre for the 2019 Federal Election.

Michael Tomaino grew up in Port Colborne, attended Notre Dame High School in Welland and graduated as a Pharmacist from the University of Toronto in 1991.  After university, Michael returned to Niagara to raise a family, once again calling Port Colborne his home.

Across Canada, from BC to PEI, we’ve seen the Green Wave surge. Thissame momentum is happening locally in Niagara, as issues of economic stability, clean air, water and land are top of mind.

Michael knows that climate change is a game-changer which threatens the quality of life of those living now and into the future.  The Green Party is the party that is uniquely positioned to govern as it recognizes the close link between the environment and humans: Our futures are inextricably linked!

Because of this, Michael also knows that the Green Party and its leaders are the precise game-changers we need to bring about change, creating lasting positive human and environmental outcomes. When elected MP,Michael Tomaino will focus on:

  • *  Increasing affordability and livability of towns and cities
  • * Reducing poverty locally (and globally)* Reducing  our economic and ecological debt* National Pharmacare and Basic Dental Care
  • * Restoring trust and respect with our Indigenous peoples
  • * Powering our economy without burning fossil fuels

In his role as a pharmacist, he focuses on compassionate delivery of addiction treatmentservices.

Michael is inspired to continue his 25 years of green action and momentum by running as the Niagara Centre Green Party Candidate becauseagreener world and a fairer democracy is possible!

A Footnote from Niagara At Large – Federally, the Niagara Centre Riding is currently held by Liberal MP Vance Badawey, a former Port Colborne mayor.

Also running for the federal seat in the riding is Tory Andrew Scheer candidate April Jeffs, a former Wainfleet mayor, and former board member on the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) with former NPCA board chairs Sandy Annunziata and Bruce Timms (both defeated from regional council seats they held in Fort Erie and St. Catharines respectively),

Jeffs is also a failed candidate Doug Ford candidate in the June 2018 provincial election who has more recently received the patronage post from the Ford government of c0-chair on the board of the Niagara Parks Commission.

We have yet to here from the federal NDP about who they plan to run in the Niagara Centre riding for an election that is scheduled for this coming October.
