Fort Erie in Niagara, Ontario – Today (this July 16th) current Fort Erie Mayor Wayne Redekop officially filed his registration papers for re-election in the upcoming municipal election on October 22, 2018.

“It has been a singular honour and privilege to serve as the Mayor of my home town and a municipality with such promise,” said Redekop. “I want to continue to provide the necessary experience and leadership needed to guide and work with Council and Town Staff to ensure that Fort Erie can continue to prosper and grow.”

First elected as Mayor in 1997, serving until 2006, again elected in 2014, Mayor Redekop has brought Council and staff together as a cohesive team, ensuring an open and accessible Town Hall and providing trusted, experienced, effective and reliable leadership for Council, Town staff and the community.

“We’ve worked hard to revitalize the local economy, to involve and empower our community groups, to build on Fort Erie’s strengths and to strive for success through partnerships,” said Redekop. “Together we have succeeded in meeting many of those challenges.”

“Our Strategic Plan focused on doing the things to make Fort Erie a prosperous and growing community, to provide sustainable infrastructure to facilitate that growth and to develop strong customer service policies, relationships and communication with residents and businesses.”

“Our Council and staff have worked diligently to fulfill the goals and objectives of that Strategic Plan. No one can mistake the change over the past three and a half years in community morale, economic activity and Fort Erie’s prospects for the future.”

“I will continue to draw on my professional and life experiences, the personal relationships I have developed over the years and my understanding of all aspects of our community to ensure that Fort Erie succeeds in meeting its full potential as a preferred place for all to live, work, do business, raise a family and prosper.”

“We have come a long way together and with your support I look forward to working to ensure Fort Erie succeeds and prospers as we continue moving forward together.”
