In the wake of a video that surfaced in the last days of April, showing Doug Ford, Ontario’s PC Party leader, telling a gathering that he would be okay with seeing “big chunks” of southern Ontario’s Greenbelt sold off for urban development, the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation posted the following statement, expressing its appreciation to all the people across the province who spoke out against such a plan.

There has been a lot of discussion about the Greenbelt in the news over the last few days.
It has been heartwarming to see the outpouring of support from across Ontario from people who are passionate about the importance of protecting some of Canada’s best farmland and natural landscapes.
It’s clear that people across the region know the unique and irreplaceable value that the Greenbelt provides us all.
