Niagara Area MPP Sam Oosterhoff hears of Liberal neglect at Pre-Budget Hearings

Queen’s Park, Toronto – Sam Oosterhoff has been hearing a familiar story across the province this week.
The (Ontario PC Party) MPP for Niagara West-Glanbrook has been visiting different cities with MPP Vic Fedeli and other colleagues as part of the annual pre-budget hearings organized by the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs.
Rocco Rossi of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce told the committee that job loss is already occurring from Ontario’s “increased input costs that include much higher tax levels than anywhere else in North America.” Liberal policies are taking a toll on the owners and employees of the small to medium-sized businesses which provide more than 70% of private sector jobs.
Similarly, Peggy Brekveld of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture spoke passionately about the 820,000 agri-food industry jobs which are in danger due to Liberal policy.
Brekveld told the Committee about challenges to her industry such as insufficient access to the Internet and natural gas, as well as looming rural school closures which destabilize communities. These are just a few areas in which this government has chosen to ignore the real concerns of rural Ontarians.
“We have been hearing the same message across the province,” declared Oosterhoff. “This Liberal government has abandoned the families and job creators of Ontario.
“Whether it is threatening our businesses and jobs through excessive taxation and regulation or under-funding necessary education services and infrastructure, this Liberal government has forgotten the people of Ontario.”
“Ontario deserves effective change now,” concluded Oosterhoff. “In June, the people of Ontario will finally have the chance the elect a government who will work for their interests.”
MPP Oosterhoff was in Kitchener-Waterloo this January 19th for his final day of pre-budget hearings.
