Posted January 15th, 2018 on Niagara At Large

Buffalo, New York – On Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 5:30 p.m., Citizens for Regional Transit (CRT) hosts its annual business meeting to elect 2018 officers and present the organization’s 2017 annual report. In addition, CRT President Doug Funke will lay out the organization’s vision and priorities for the upcoming year, and Hal Morse, Executive Director of the Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), will present a preview of the Buffalo-Niagara 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan.

In 2017, CRT continued its efforts to promote public transit. Throughout the year, the organization has been busy with letters, opinion pieces, and interviews in local media; meetings with state and federal government representatives, presentations to community groups; information tables at events; attendance at meetings of transportation agencies and community organizations; comments on regional transportation plans; and more.

The Buffalo Niagara 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan provides the context and regional direction in which CRT’s continued efforts will take root, including focusing on environmentally friendly and economically equitable transit solutions to benefit all residents of the Buffalo Niagara region. The plan also looks at the importance of strategic partnerships and the harnessing of new technologies for the future of transit planning.

Join CRT on Tuesday, January 16 to learn more about public transit advocacy in Western New York and how to get involved in 2018.

Citizens for Regional Transit (the Citizens’ Regional Transit Corporation) is committed to creating a broad base of support for the improvement and expansion of bus and rail transit for all citizens of the Niagara Frontier.

A Brief Footnote from Niagara At Large – We could certainly use a citizens group like this on the Niagara, Ontario side of border. Or does everyone in Niagara, Ontario have a car to get around?
