Niagara Falls, Ontario – The Niagara Parks Commission will be hosting a diverse lineup of activities and promotions for all visitors to enjoy while spending the Civic Holiday weekend in Niagara Parks:
Simcoe Days at Mackenzie Printery
Celebrate the Civic Holiday, also known as ‘Simcoe Day’, or ‘Emancipation Day’ in the African Canadian community, which honours the first Lieutenant Governor of this province. Join us during the holiday weekend from August 4 to 7, as the Mackenzie Printery will be featuring the works of Upper Canada’s first Lieutenant Governor, John Graves Simcoe and his contributions to shaping the future of Ontario. Admission is $6.25 for adults and $4.05 for children six to 12 years of age. Children five years and under are admitted free at all Niagara Parks attractions. The Mackenzie Printery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with free parking available.
Free Admission to the Laura Secord Homestead and Old Fort Erie
Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of the Niagara River Corridor as they experience the sights and sounds of a fort under siege at Old Fort Erie and the enchanting stories and adventures of Canada’s most famous heroine, Laura Secord, at the lovingly restored Laura Secord Homestead in the historic village of Queenston, Ontario. Niagara Parks is proud to offer free admission to Old Fort Erie and the Laura Secord Homestead on Monday, August 7. Both sites are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free parking available.

Falls Fireworks and Coca-Cola Concert Series
On Friday, August 4 and Monday, August 7, visitors will be able to enjoy free outdoor concerts in Queen Victoria Park from 8 p.m. – 10 p.m., followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the Falls at 10 p.m. (weather-permitting).
iMela South Asian Music Festival
The free outdoor cultural music festival kicks off with a bhangra dance competition to be held at the Scotiabank Convention Centre on Saturday, August 5. The festivities continue on Sunday, August 6 in Queen Victoria Park from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., featuring performances by various Canadian Punjabi entertainers, including singers, dancers, comedians and a motorcycle display. There will also be food and information vendors on-site throughout the day.
Enhanced Walking Experience Along Promenade Within Queen Victoria Park
Niagara Parks will be establishing an expanded riverwalk promenade for pedestrians along the Niagara Parkway between Murray Street and Table Rock Centre during the Civic Holiday long weekend. As well, Niagara Parks offers many affordable nearby parking options including its Rapidsview Parking Lot (Lot C), which offers a daily parking rate of $10, with free WEGO shuttle service provided to Table Rock Centre. Civic Holiday Golf Promotions
Niagara Parks’ Legends on the Niagara Golf Complex and Whirlpool Golf Course will also be offering special Civic Holiday promotions on Monday, August 7. At Legends, golfers will be able to play a round for $110 at Ussher’s Creek Course and $90 at Battlefield Course before 3 p.m., which includes golf cart and access to the driving range. As well, golfers will receive a package of 12 Titleist ProV golf balls and a 20% discount offered on all Titleist FootJoy merchandise. At Whirlpool, the Civic Holiday Special will be offered to the first 80 players at the price of $105, including cart, 12 Titleist ProV golf balls and 20% discount on all Acushnet products. Travel Round-Trip and Save with GO Transit
Round-trip travel on the GO Niagara Seasonal Train includes GO Train service to and from Niagara, as well as a two-day access pass to WEGO, the hop-on, hop-off tourism bus system that travels throughout Niagara Parks, the City of Niagara Falls and to the Town of Niagara-on-the Lake. GO Trains running on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays during the summer months will feature three bike cars with room for 18 bikes on each.
