Statistics Canada released job numbers today that showed an increase in the unemployment rate in the Niagara region compared to the same time last year.
“In 2015, as families in Niagara faced rising unemployment, the Wynne Liberal government failed to create a jobs plan. Instead they plowed ahead with the sell-off of Hydro One, which will lead to higher hydro bills, making life harder for families and businesses, and hampering job creation,” said Gates.
Statistics Canada numbers released today show that the unemployment rate in the Niagara region rose to 8 per cent in December 2015. Gates has been consistently calling on the Liberal government for a comprehensive jobs strategy and an end to the sell-off of Hydro One.
“I continue to push for things like two-way, year-round GO Train service to Niagara Falls and the Canadian Motor Speedway, which has the potential to create thousands of jobs in Niagara,” said Gates.

Mr Gates, this Ontario Liberal Government got elected only because it was a protest vote -a protest vote against Hudak and the party politics of the Very Right Wing Conservatives. And believe it or not, the Liberals were not trusted or liked very well either. ….
So Mr. Gates, I ask you where and what was the NDP doing during the last Ontarioelection? I ask because they were too silent and seemed to be completely lacking of a platform or any positive agenda that just might have swayed the voters into supporting the NDP over the Liberals.

Wynne cares only about the GHTA. She continues to use the rest of Ontario to cover the costs of her narrow minded single vision goal eg Scarborough ‘white elephant’ line. In the meantime she caters to Bay Street (sale of up to 60% profits of Hydro One) so that she will be given employment after the next election.

I feel the same way…was so disappointed in the little support we got from the NDP. I met some of the politicians on Election Nite…sat in on the devastating loss of the NDP. To me the politicians were just “a resemblance of The Old Boys Club.”
