Join In A ‘Get Ontario MPPs Back To Work’ Campaign

A Submission from the Office of Welland, Ontario Riding MPP Cindy Forster

Friends,

This week the Queen’s Park doors were sealed shut. For how long no one knows.

Welland, Ontario MPP Cindy Forster

It was only a little over a year ago that Ontarians went to the ballot box to send 107 MPPs from across the province to Queen’s Park to do an important job, but McGuinty and his party believe the Liberal leadership campaign is far more important than the will of the people.

And after nearly 10 years of arbitrary decision making, it seems like many of our fellow Ontarians have become numb, with many seemingly expecting this sort of behaviour from such a scandal-prone government.

We need to remind Ontarians what’s at stake, because it won’t be the Liberal party who will have to suffer the consequences — it will be the people of Ontario.

The legislative shut down means all current bills and motions are now dead, including bills that would have removed the HST off home heating, lowered auto insurrance rates, provided rights for condo owners, clean public transit and stopped outrageous public CEO bonuses.

Ontarians need leadership on jobs, health care, and an end to wasteful government scandals. We don’t need to stop work because of a provincial Liberal leadership race.

We need you to remind your friends and family what’s at stake and remind them democratic government isn’t something you turn off like a light switch when the going gets tough.

Join our Get MPPs Back to Work facebook page hereand check out our MppsBackToWork.ca website – most importantly – share the facebook page and website with your networks.

Let us know why you think MPPs should be back in the legislature by emailing your thoughts to us at yoursay@ndp.on.ca. The best contributions will be shared on our Facebook page and website.

We need to show the Liberal Party that when they subvert the democratic rights of Ontarians people won’t stay silent about it.

  1. To my way of thinking, this is almost the same as a strike only by government, ie refusal to work. Funny how they can do it but want to deprive others of the same right.

  2. Personally, I think that McGuinty’s move to prorogue should be put to a vote of confidence test and that an election should be called. Unfortunately what do we have to select from? Different flavours of the same thing.

Is it me or do any of you think this province needs a new alternative, in the form of a provincial party, to enter the race? A party that is unencumbered with the baggage that exists with all of the other parties. A party that is populated with members that are more concerned with the well-being of this province than getting re-elected at the expense of negatively impacting 100,000’s of people. A party that is fiscally and socially responsible. A party that doesn’t pander to minority special-interests and that acts in the best interest of all. A party that is not hog-tied to big labour, big business or social idealists. A party that is for Ontario!

I have a name for this party …. The Breath of Fresh Air Party.
    Just sayin….

  3. Greg Middleton just may be on to something here! A new party might work, provided we can keep the professional politicians out of it.
It would have to be a grass-roots type of party – NOT beholden to big business, unions or other special-interest group.

  4. Harper and McGuinty two dictators cut from the same clothe, two asinine individuals who held and hold the peoples of Canada and NOW the peoples of Ontario in a strangle hold of RANSOM and, PEOPLE the Governor Generals in both instances let it happen.
So much for our system of governance when this can happen, for anything can happen, in fact they just might be re-elected if our corporate media still follows the same agenda or their OWNERS.

  5. I find it interesting that the Liberals can order the teachers back to work but then can close the doors on parliament at their convenience. A double standard for sure.
