A Brief Note from NAL publisher Doug Draper
During this relatively slow news period in July and August, this publisher will take a little more time to walk whatever open beaches we have left for the public to walk on in Niagara and, yes, I will be walking a few along the shores of my dear old home away from home, Cape Cod.
Therefore, we are going to kind of join the rest of the summer set in taking a little more easy during what we in the news business sometimes call ‘the dog days of summer.’
That does not mean Niagara At Large won’t be posting news and commentary on issues of interest and it certainly does not mean we will not be posting your responses to posts on this site or some of the news and commentary pieces we receive from contributors. It just means that we will be slowing down a little to do a little reflecting and recharging of our minds for what will likely be some challenging times ahead for our region, our country and for the world most of us wish to live a safe, peaceful and prosperous life in.
Having said that, thanks so much for your continued support for a free and independent, off-the-bench media alternative for your support. To think that over the past two years, more than half a million people have visited this site from around this region, Canada and the United States and, quite astoundingly, from countries as diverse as China, Venezuala, England, Germany and Afghanistan is quite gratifying.
Just imagine what we could do if some came forth with a little financial backing for news sites such as this? We would be able to do farm more than we are doing now to blow away the ho-hum mainstream media outlets that place advertisers before serving, without fear or favour, the interests of communities they are sucking those ad bucks out of. My God, we might get the media back as a vital force in democracy. Wouldn’t that be something?

How wise! Taking time to smell the roses — and walk the beaches. I commend you for your perspective and commitment. Looking forward to see/read what your refreshed spirit will bring forth in coming months.
Peace and thanks for your vision.
