Take Unfair HST off Hydro & Home Heating – Horwath
Queen’s Park – Ontario’s New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath says the Ontario Government must take the unfair HST off hydro and home heating bills.

“In these tough times it’s just wrong to stick a new tax on hydro and home heating bills. Today New Democrats are calling for a simple step to make life more affordable for Ontario families,” said Horwath.
In September Ontario’s New Democrats launched a campaign to take the harmonized sales tax off hydro. Today’s announcement expands the campaign to take the unfair tax off home heating bills such as natural gas and heating oil.
Removing the HST from hydro and home heating would save an average family with two children $220 per year.
“You can cut a lot from your household budget, but everyone needs to heat their home and keep the lights on. As temperatures drop across the province, and families scramble to pay their heating bills, now’s the time to take the HST off of natural gas and home heating oil and give families a permanent break,” said Horwath.

“We’re going to keep the pressure up by expanding our campaign to take the HST off home heating and hydro bills. Ontarians deserve real relief.” said Horwath.

HST another betrayal by Dalton Mc.Guinty, all the Liberals have ever done is pile taxes onto the citizens of this Province, this is the guy who said I will not raise our taxes, this man gives us the Health Tax, then pulls the rug from under us, by closing down our Hospital, I thought Bob Rae was bad in piling taxes onto the populace, Dalton has outdone the NDP in taxing the people.Heating and food are neccessities not luxuries in Canada, fuel already takes a huge chunk out of our income, time to give the liar Dalton the boot.George
