Earl Plato, UEL,  will be releasing his latest book, The Bowen Legacy, as it traces the Bowen family roots from Wales to America and their movement to Niagara as loyalists.  Mr. Plato will be signing books at the museum Friday December 5th from 6 to 8 PM.

On Saturday December 6th from 1 to 3 PM the Museum welcomes Elaine Couglar for a book signing.  She has just released her second book in her Loyalist Trilogy, The Loyalist’s Luck.  In her first book, The Loyalist’s Wife you follow the footsteps of Lucy and John Garner, who joins Butler’s Rangers. Each book captures the challenges, the hardship and the separation of living through the Revolution and finding their way safely to Niagara.  Based on the real life exploits of John Garner who was granted land in 1796 in Fort Erie.   Her first book The Loyalist’s Wife is short listed for a book award from Inspire! Toronto International Book Fair’s Self-Publishing Awards.

Please share this information with anyone interested in meeting these two authors, or enjoying a day out in Ridgeway.

  1. Earl Plato, a neat guy and retired school teacher extraordinaire. I had him in Grade 7 English and I appreciate him now more than ever before, for his historic fervor and passion for this great country and region. He is well-versed in the nature of our area, both civilized and un. I would wish to remind the readers of another author, fledgling, and a lifelong friend of mine, who’s already had his book-signing at the Historical Museum in Ridgeway last August. It was perhaps not adequately publicized, but his book remains available on Amazon or directly from the author himself. It’s Mike Van Natter (another former student of Earl Plato’s) and his book is “Deep Obsession”, which is actually set in this area, Cuba, and in Tobermory, the now national park and fabulous fresh-water diving resort community on the tip of the Bruce Peninsula.
