Demand For Acton On Climate Change Is More Than Ever Coming From Growing Masses Of Citizen Crusaders Around The World

By Doug Draper

In her latest and most important book to date –called “This Changes Everything” – Canadian journalist and citizen activist Naomi Klein highlights a quote by U.S Tea Party darling and former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

Many tens of thousands march through the canions of New York City for action on climage change

“I love that smell of emissions,” said Palin as she bussed around the bed-rock, ‘I hate Obama’, neo-conservative regions of her country selling whatever book she was peddling at the time to add to her personal bank bundle.

Palin, of course, would not continue to be a darling of millions of Americans if they did not dig in to her message – and one marketed with multi-millions of dollars spent by the oil and gas industries in the United States and the tar sands lands of Canada – that building eoncomies for the 21st century that move away from carbon-based oil and gas fuels would be something akin to going communist and destroying our current economic structures.

The rallies this September 21st in Canada and the rest of the world, including people from across the greater Buffalo/Niagara region and Greater Toronto Area marching by the many 1ens of thousands, if not upward of 200,000, in the streets of New York City, are a profound statement that U.S. President Barack Obama, who seemed to care so much about the climate change crisis, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and other world leaders, that they are bowing to petroleum interests and letting the future for our children and grandchildren down.

Why should the future of our children be worth any less than the profits of tar sands interests and other oil and gas interests today?climate change peoples climate change march

Read this most important book – This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein. If our educators across Ontario, New York and North American have any say real say in curriclum around challenges that matter to  their students future on this wonderful plant, they should demand that it be  mandatory that Naomi Klein’s book be mandatory reading  in high schools, colleges and universities across this continent!

Never mind the $300 textbooks costs college and universities are now demanding students pay for textbooks.  Shell out about 30 bucks for Naomi  Klein’s  book and say to hell with the rest of those outrageously over-priced pages of paper. .

In the meantime, Canada’s  prime minister, Stephen Harper, is scheducled to speak in the days ahead before the general assembly of the United Nations, but has not yet agreed to join other world leaders in speaking before the U.N.’s summit on climate change. Should he do so, NAL will be pleased to post his speech.
