NDP Critic Blasts Ontario Government For Awarding eHealth CEO A ‘Golden Parachute’ Severance Package

A Statement from the Office of Ontario NDP Health Critic France Gelina

(A Brief Note from Niagara At Large – Some of us who choose to pay attention may recall that this is the same Ontario eHealth agency that blew away about a billion dollars in consultant contracts to create a provincial health records registry I don’t believe is fully functional to this day.)

September 27th, 2013 – “ Ontario’s precious healthcare dollars should be invested in helping people get healthy and stay healthy. Not golden parachutes for eHealth Executives.

Ontarians are seeing hospitals get more crowded, seniors are seeing important health services cut, and families are seeing cuts to nurses and doctors across the province.

Why is the Liberal government rewarding Greg Reed, CEO of eHealth, with a $400,000 severance package for leaving his job six months before his contract ends, (Reed’s salary was $325,000) at the same time the government is cutting important healthcare services?”

  1. We need you there, France Gelinas. You were the only politician that listened when the Niagara health System neglected to give my 91 year old mother a CT scan when she fell and put a 13 stitch cut on her forehead. She bled to death. We need doctors in emergency wards who do not see older patients as expendable. Thanks.

  3. Cutting important health services indeed! And all the while SOME people are demanding more money be spent on health when this kind of frivolous waste occurs! This is the tip of the iceberg!
Its not a matter of more money. It is a matter of using the BILLIONS the health system already gets more effectively!
Cut waste, increase efficiency before increasing taxes! It’s not rocket science. I know kids in grade school that GET this. It’s about time the idiots who are in positions of public trust get it!
    Just sayin…….
