A Submission from Chorus Niagara
St. Catharines, Ontario – Niagara’s premier 100-voice choral ensemble, conducted by Artistic Director Robert Cooper, holds its 7th Annual Singathon Fundraiser at “The Most Famous Food Court in the World” the Seaway Mall in Welland Ontario, Saturday, February 9th from 10am-3pm.
The Seaway Mall was the location for the Chorus’ 2010 YouTube viral flash mob, produced by Alphabet Photography, viewed over 41 million times.
The Singathon is a free concert, performed continuously for the public from 10am-3pm. The Chorus performs a variety of works from their popular and classical repertoire, including the famed Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
Local community leaders have been invited as guest conductors and will lead the choir with assistance from Artistic Director Robert Cooper, who will tutor them in the basic methods of conducting. Also joining Chorus Niagara are members of The Chorus Niagara Side By Side High School Chorale. The Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir, with Artistic Director Amanda Nelli perform at 11:30am.
The Singathon is Chorus Niagara’s major annual fundraiser. The financial goal this year is to raise $50,000.00 in support of our 50th Anniversary Season. Funds are used to produce and promote the ensembles’ annual season of 4 choral concerts featuring classical, avant-garde and contemporary choral music. The funds are also used to support our Side By Side High School Chorale as well as The Chorus Niagara Children’s Choir. Donations can be made in person at the Singathon, by sponsoring a chorus member, or easily and securely online, through http://www.canadahelps.org
