From Doug Draper – As a long-time environment reporter and aging member of a Baby Boomer Generation that, in my view, has more than a little explaining to do to younger people about it’s conspicuous consumption of carbon-polluting fossil fuels that has made such a significant contribution to the climate crisis we are facing today, it is great to see more and more senior citizens join young people organizing and pressing for action to address this dangerous, destructive and deadly problem.
With the support of the David Suzuki Foundation and numerous other non-profit citizens group, Seniors for Climate is using this coming Tuesday, October 1st’s National Seniors Day in Canada to hold rallies and other events for climate action across the country, including one in Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Simcoe Park from 4 to 5 p.m. and one at the Grimsby Public Library on 18 Carnegie Lane from 7 to 8 p.m. Continue reading
