Niagara, Ontario – Enough is enough already with Ontario Premier Doug Ford and his minions, including his Lincoln MPP Sam Oosterhoff and his most grovelling mayor servants in Niagara – Mat Siscoe of St. Catharines, Jim Diodati of Niagara Falls and Frank Campion of Welland – tearing apart everything from our regional and local muncipal governments to our school boards to the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority dedicated to protecting and preserving the quality of life in our area watersheds.
We have municipal elections come up this Fall and we have to use them to fight back by electing individuals to public office who are going to stand up to us and not crawl on their bellies to Doug Ford and he continues to cut services and download policing, health care, education, urban development and other costs on us.
Fighting Ford and his willful servants will take People Power and one way we can show it is by showing up at rallies like the one planned by citizen groups across Niagara in front of the Pen Centre Mall in St. Catharines this coming Saturday, April 25th.
The last rally like this, held on Saturday, March 26th, and organized by citizen groups like A Better Niagara, Biodiversity and Climate Action Niagara, the Pelham-based 50by30, the Niagara Health Coalition and so many others, drew more than 300 people – despite the cold, cold weather – who nevertheless received the support of countless number of passersby in their vehicles honking horns of support.
This time, let’s see even more of us from across this region out there, until the likes of Ford and Oosterhoff and municipal politicians with their heads up Ford’s behind get the message that people in Niagara are not going to put up with their assault on our services and democratic institutions without a fight.
