Join The Campaign For A Fair Deal For Students
A Call-Out from Ontario’s Green Party
Posted April 10th, 2026 on Niagara At Large
Right now, students across Ontario are pulling all-nighters to get through exam season. But while they work to build a life for themselves, Doug Ford is making it impossible to get ahead.
His government’s plan to overhaul OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) flips the script on student aid—shifting from grants to loans that come with interest. It means Ontario students will graduate with the highest debt loads in Canada while our schools receive the lowest per-capita funding in the country.
School shouldn’t be a debt sentence. That’s why the Ontario Greens have tabled a motion to fundamentally change how we support students.
Our plan is simple: Eliminate all interest on student loans and ensure low- and middle-income students receive 100% of their support as non-repayable grants.
We’ve seen what happens when this government tries to balance budgets on the backs of students. But we’ve also seen what happens when we fight back together. The momentum is on our side, but we need to keep the pressure on.
Will you join us and demand a fair deal for students?

Together, we can protect affordable education.
