‘You’re building hope, stability and lasting futures for generations.’
A Call-Out To All from Habitat for Humanity Niagara
Posted October 14th, 2025 on Niagara At Large
This Thanksgiving, as families gathered around their tables, we want to share a story of gratitude that your support made possible.
Back in 2017, when Habitat for Humanity Niagara was building five homes, Colleen’s mom urged her to apply to our Affordable Homeownership Program. She didn’t expect much. After years of struggling with unstable housing and the cost of raising three children, the dream of homeownership felt out of reach.
After being qualified and accepted in December 2018, her family received the keys to their very own Habitat home. Their daughter finally got the great big Christmas tree she had wished for, her husband started his backyard garden, and the family finally had the stability they had been hoping for.
Seven happy family years later, their home continues to provide stability through life’s challenges and joys. It’s where they’ve celebrated birthdays, holidays and even welcomed their first grandchild. It gave Colleen the stability to pursue a new career, and when her husband faced a terrifying cancer diagnosis, they didn’t have to worry about losing their home, they could focus on his health. Today, he is cancer-free and their family is thriving.
“This home changed the trajectory of our lives,” Colleen says. “It gave us hope, stability, and the chance to dream again. None of this would have been possible without Habitat Niagara and the generous donors who support it.”
Because of supporters like you, families in Niagara don’t just receive a house, they gain safety, dignity and the chance to build a better future.
This Thanksgiving, we are especially grateful for you. Whether you shop or donate at our ReStores, support our builds or volunteer your time, your generosity goes beyond building houses. You’re building hope, stability and lasting futures for generations.
Thank you for being part of this life-changing work.

Jim Bradley speaks at a Habitat for Humanity Niagara event.
As a long-serving MPP and later as Regional Chair, Jim was a steadfast supporter of Habitat for Humanity Niagara. His commitment to building stronger communities and helping families achieve safe and affordable housing will never be forgotten.
We are grateful for his years of advocacy and support, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. His legacy of service and compassion will continue to inspire us.
