Well-known economist, author and commentator Jim Stanford comes to Niagara via a zoom meeting that we are all invited to.
Niagara, Ontario – On Wednesday October 15th at 7 p.m. the Niagara District Council of Women (NDCW) public zoom meeting will feature Jim Stanford, speaking on “The Future of Canadian Jobs in a Tariff-Ridden World!
Jim, through his interviews and published articles in the print and broadcast media and regular columns in the Toronto Star, is the best known economist in Canada.
Although our GM CAW-related labour force has shrunk considerably since Jim last spoke at our CAW /NDCW- sponsored meeting several years ago, the Niagara Region work force has broadened substantially, and many people here in Niagara and across Canada are extremely concerned about what the future holds .
As Jim stated recently, ” Donald Trump’s trade war poses an existential threat to Canada’s most important value-added industries: including auto, primary metals, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, semiconductors, and more.”
In this presentation, he ” will unpack Trump’s false claims he uses to justify his tariffs, discuss the impacts on Canada’s economy, and review the full range of policies needed to protect Canada’s economy during and after Trump!”
