Niagara, Ontario – Brock University joins citizens across Niagara and Ontario in mourning the loss of Regional Chair Jim Bradley.
Throughout his storied 55-year political career, Bradley was a steadfast supporter of the Niagara region and Brock University. He passed away Friday, Sept. 26 at the age of 80.
The former MPP and provincial minister will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to public service at the municipal, regional and provincial levels, and for his ability to provide a voice of reason under even the most divisive circumstances.
There’s much to be learned from his dedication to creating a better community for all.
Bradley’s decades of advocacy for Brock University have helped to shape the institution and will continue to have an impact on our students for generations to come.
His efforts were instrumental in securing provincial funding for key Brock University spaces, including the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and the Roy and Lois Cairns Health and Bioscience Research Complex, and regional funding for the Rankin Family Pavilion.

While he worked to support students in the classroom, Bradley could also be found cheering them on from the stands.
Bradley was an avid Brock Badgers basketball fan. A season ticket holder, he often took in games on campus and on the road — even watching the Brock men’s team clinch the national championship in 1992.
His presence on campus will be dearly missed, though his legacy as a champion for the Badgers and Brock University will continue on. The University has lowered its flags in Bradley’s honour.
The Brock community sends its sincere condolences to Bradley’s family, friends, colleagues and constituents.
Though our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to an impactful leader, we are reminded of the good he helped to create for Niagara and our role in carrying that continued progress forward.
Sincerely, Lesley Rigg
Brock University President and Vice-Chancellor
