St. CATHARINES/Niagara – Shadow Solicitor General Jennie Stevens (NDP MPP for St. Catharines) is calling out Premier Doug Ford for taking speed cameras, a road safety measure that saves lives, out of communities without any plans to keep vulnerable road users safe:
“The Premier is taking tools away from our communities that keep children, cyclists and pedestrians safe,” said Stevens. “Ontarians know this is a distraction.
“While the Premier rallies against speeding tickets, 800,000 Ontarians are unemployed. Right now, the Premier of our province is focused on taking safety tools away from school zones and high-risk areas of our communities against the advice of experts, including police chiefs, instead of focusing on what matters – the jobs disaster that has unfolded under his watch.”
