Captive beluga whales, on public exhibition at the Marineland amusement park in Niagara Falls, Ontario
Niagara Falls, Ontario – According to a CBC-TV news report broadcast this September, 23rd, managers at the now-closed Marineland amusement park in Niagara Falls, Ontario have applied to Canada’s federal government for permits to move the remaining 30 beluga whales at the park to an aquarium in China.
This news follows yet another recent report of another beluga whale death at the once highly popular Marineland park – the latest of several whale deaths in recent years that have head animal activists calling on provincial and federal government officials to step in and find healthier homes for the remaining animals.
