As March Toward Dictatorship Grows, Trump Pulls The Plug On Jimmy Kimmel Show

A Brief Commentary by Niagara At Large reporter/publisher Doug Draper

Jimmy Kimmel is one of latest victims in Trump’s war on his list of enemies.

Firing, defunding and suing everyone and everything from cancer researcher, vaccination programs, environmental agencies, world-class universities and newspapers like Harvard, National Public Radio (NPR) & TV, and The New York Times,  to making random arrests and putting military boots on the ground in the heart of American cities, Trump is goose-stepping America to a place where no country that takes any pride in calling itself a free and open democracy should go.

One of the most recent casualties in this march toward an authoritarian state is the late night show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ whose host Jimmy Kimmel has been on Trump’s enemies list for quite some time for opening monologues that have never shied away from tearing strips off Trump and his band of sycophants and enablers when the occasion calls for it – which is almost every day.

Trump recently posted this depiction of himself on his social media site.

This September 17th, with the help of his hand-picked director of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Brendan Carr, he finally put enough pressure on the ABC/Disney network to take Jimmy Kimmel off the air indefinitely.

So much for the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. So much for the principle of free speech – whether you like or don’t like what someone says – in America.

In the wake of this, I am completely tuning out the ABC/Disney network of television shows and movies, and encouraging everyone else I know to do the same. I am also urging everyone I know to boycott Disney World in Florida and Disney Land in California too and I hope, as another way of standing up for democracy, that you do the same.

For those of you who may have missed it, or who don’t watch Jimmy Kimmel’s show, here is his one of his last monologues before his who was yanked from the air.  You can watch it by clicking on the screen directly below –

Here, also, is Jimmy Kimmel’s very last monologue from September 16th, 2025, less than 24 hours before his show was taken off the air –

Shame on the ABC/Disney corporation  and here is hoping that Jimmy Kimmel can find another high-end gig soon on network with more principle and courage, and more respect for free speech and democracy soon.
