“Climate Resilience” & “Natural Heritage” Are Included Among Key Priorities In Plan

FORT ERIE, Ontario — The Town of Fort Erie Council has adopted a new Official Plan that establishes a strategic framework to guide growth and development through to the year 2051.
The plan reflects the vision of Town Council, extensive public engagement, expert analysis, and collaboration with stakeholders across the community.
The Official Plan addresses key priorities including:
- Housing
- Employment
- Agriculture
- Natural heritage
- Climate resilience
- Economic development
Developed through a comprehensive review process, the plan included multiple rounds of public consultation, open houses, and statutory meetings. Community feedback played a vital role in shaping the final document, which is now available for public viewing on the Town’s engagement platform, Let’s Talk Fort Erie.

The Official Plan will now be submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing for final approval under the Planning Act.
