Let Prime Minister Carney know that you want the Government of Canada to support renewable energy projects in Ontario
A Call-Out from the Ontario Clean Air Alliance, a non-profit citizens group advocating for cleaner, greener energy solutions

First the good news: As reported in the National Observer, the Government of Canada is stepping up to support renewable energy “national-interest projects” in Labrador and Nova Scotia, as well as new transmission projects to boost renewable electricity trade between British Columbia and the Yukon, Manitoba and Nunavut, and Quebec and the Maritimes.
Now the bad news: Early signals suggest that Prime Minister Carney has no plans to invest in renewable energy projects in Ontario, nor to strengthen critical transmission links between Ontario and Manitoba or Ontario and Quebec – despite the fact that electricity rates in Winnipeg and Montreal are 30-50% lower than in Toronto [https://www.cleanairalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/provinces.jpg].
That’s a missed opportunity.
If the Prime Minister is serious about climate action and nation-building, he should be backing bold Ontario projects – all of which can use Ontario steel and copper – including:

- 🌬️ Offshore wind [https://www.cleanairalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/wind.jpg] in the Great Lakes

With these smart investments, Ontario can:

- ✅ Avoid expensive American nuclear reactors [https://www.cleanairalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/coins-1.jpg]

The Ontario Clean Air Alliance (OCAA), established in 1997, successfully led the campaign to phase out the use of dirty coal power in Ontario. We are now working to move our province to a 100% renewable electricity system. This includes replacing our high-emission gas power plants and high-cost nuclear power stations with a combination of conservation, made-in-Ontario wind and solar power, and water power imports and storage from Quebec.
