NIAGARA FALLS — MPP Wayne Gates wrote an open letter to the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care (Natalia Kusenddova-Bashta) to scrap a proposal that would remove long-term care inspection reports from public access after just three years.

In a letter sent to the Minister today, Gates warned that the change would undermine transparency and deny families information about the care their loved ones — often seniors — receive.

The letter cites the 2020 Canadian Armed Forces report that revealed neglect in several Ontario long-term care homes, stressing that public oversight is more important than ever.
