In her first week back in Parliament, Elizabeth took on the government’s lack of urgency on the climate crisis. In a press conference she pointed out that the Speech from the Throne barely mentioned climate action and demanded answers from Prime Minister Carney on how Canada will meet its legally binding Paris targets.

Inside the House she used her one question of the week to put the climate emergency front and centre, asking directly: “When will we see a climate plan?” The new Environment Minister had no answer.
She also spoke out this week about the need for emergency preparedness—[like a national fleet of water bombers](https://www.greenparty.ca/en/civicrm/mailing/url/?u=390168&qid=174937088) and a federal firefighting force—to match the reality of the climate crisis we’re already living through.
And she amplified the voices of Canadians demanding a stronger democracy too, presenting a petition in Parliament calling for a more democratic voting system.
On Saturday(May 31st), Elizabeth [addressed hundreds of mayors and councillors at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ national congress. After sharing the Green vision for climate action and economic sovereignty, she received a standing ovation for her powerful message.
