An Urgent Call-Out to All of Us from Liz Benneian, Biodiversity and Climate Action Niagara

Bill 5 is the most dangerous piece of legislation the Ford government has introduced yet.
It gives cabinet emergency-level powers to override thelegislature, local governance, planning and heritage policy and environmental regulations while dismantling the Endangered Species Act altogether.
It allows cabinet to work with developers, heavy industries and any number of favoured friends to create virtually lawless Special Economic Zones on ANY land in Ontario.
I have drafted a letter which I will be sending to the Premier, key Ministers and all PC MPPs as well as other party leaders and their MPPs who are the critics on key files. It is so important that we join our colleagues from across the Province to oppose Bill 5, the worst, but just one of many, outrageous assaults the Ford government has inflicted, and continues to inflict, on the environment and our democracy.
We hear the Ford government intends to introduce more changes to planning policy next week.
Just like Trump, Ford’s strategy is to flood the zone and overwhelm opposition with a firehouse of legislation, but we will not be silenced, and we will never accept the damage he is inflicting on us.
