At the first face-to-face meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Canada’s newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney at the White House this May 6th, Trump repeated his desire to see Canada become a “51st state.” – a shot from the leader of a neighbouring country that many Canadians continue to view as completely disrespectful to our country and as an open threat to our sovereignty.
Staying calm and cool, Carney’s answer was that it will never happen.
