Canada’s federal Liberal leader and prime minister Mark Carney, with Andrea Kaiser, the Liberal candidate running against Pierre Poilievre Conservative incumbent Tony Baldinelli in the Niagara Falls Riding to his right, and Liberal incumbent in the Niagara South Riding, Vance Badawey, to his left.

Niagara Falls, Ontario – “I think this is the biggest crisis of our lifetime,” said Liberal leader and prime minister Mark Carney this April 18th, with the American and Horseshoe Falls roaring behind him,  of the continued threat Trump poses to Canada’s economy and sovereignty.

Trump’s tariff war alone, added Carney, threatens jobs, businesses and the livelihoods of millions of Canadians.

“The key question in this (federal) election,” Carney continued, “is who will stand up against this threat and chaos.”

“In a crisis (the answer to that question) means preparing for the threat to our very sovereignty. … Trump plans to break us so he can own us (and) that will never happen,” Carney vowed.

Faced with a crisis like this, “you have to fight with everything you got,” he said, and “I know, from travelling across our country, that Canadians are ready to step up (and) by working together, we will build a better economy.”

“There are some difficult days ahead,” said Carney, and we are so much stronger when we work together.”

“America is divided (under Trump) and this will make them weaker in time. We are united and it will make us stronger.”

Carney concluded his remarks by saying that, as a result of what Trump is doing,  he doesn’t believe Canada and the United States will ever get back to the kind of relationship it has had in the past, but he is determine, if he is re-elected prime minister in this April’s federal election, to play a key role to build a new relationship that will work for people in both countries.”
