In Wake Of Trump Tariff War, Canadians Respond By Giving U.S. Travel A Thumbs Down

Canadian-resident return trips from the United States by automobile continue to decline.
In March, the number of Canadian-resident return trips by automobile from the United States totaled 1.5 million, a steep decline – down 31.9 per cent – from the same month in 2024.
March 2025 marked the third consecutive month of year-over-year decline, and the third decline observed since March 2021.

US-resident trips to Canada by automobile decrease.
In March, the number of US-resident trips to Canada by automobile was 770,400, a decline of 10.6% from the same month in 2024. This was the second consecutive month of year-over-year decline and the third decline observed since March 2021.
In March 2025, the highest number of arrivals per day was observed on Saturday, March 22 (44,200), and the lowest was seen on Tuesday, March 4 (12,900).
