A ‘Love Letter’ To Canada As American Hostility Toward Our Country Grows

A Brief Commentary by Doug Draper, followed by a very warm “Dear Canada” video by a fellow Canadian, Tim Thompson

Posted March 13th, 2025 on Niagara At Large

As Trump’s American continues to ramp up its efforts to wreak havoc on Canada’s economy and its threats to make our country a “51st state,” Tim Thompson, a Toronto filmmaker produced a wonderful “Dear Canada” video that should lift all our spirits.

It speaks to a Canada that we have recently found out that outside of some, Americans collectively don’t know and have never really had any respect or feelings of friendship for.

Why else would tens-of-millions of Americans vote into power and continue to support a president, in the name of Donald Trump, who has, for years, threatened our quality of life and countless Canadian jobs with punishing tariffs, and who now threatens our very right to exist as a sovereign nation?

On his website Tim Thompson said of producing the ‘Dear Canada’ video – “I felt compelled to make something. To stick up for, and to honour. To show our strength, beauty, genius, empathy, light and heart. I spent the past few weeks in my free time piecing this together. It’s a love letter, made with deep gratitude for the people and places of this beautiful land. Vive le Canada.”
