Boycott Everything Florida – Let’s Hit Trump & His Mad Band Of Minion At Ground Zero Where It Hurts

That Boycott Should Extend To Trump’s Palm Beach Neighbour and Pal Wayne Gretzky Too

In the wake of Trump’s continuous threats to take over our Canada by economic force, we, the Canadian people, don’t have to” pause” or “suspend” retaliatory measures against the orange-face monster to the south like some of our political leaders are.

On that front, a good argument could be made that our political leaders should not be pausing retaliatory measures either. like Ontario Premier Doug Ford did this March 11th when he decided to suspend a 25 per cent surcharge on electricity the province sells to three U.S. states.

Trump threatens takeover of Canada

After all, Trump is still threatening Canada with punishing tariffs and a takeover.

So while growing numbers of us are buying Canadian and boycotting American products, let’s be laser focused on boycotting on those regions of the United States – so-called “red” or MAGA Republican states –where disproportionate numbers of Trump’s cult members  live.

One of the most obvious states that comes to my mind is Florida where the self-proclaimed “King” Trump reportedly continues to spend about as much time holding court in his Mar-a-Lago palace as he does having toadies groveling at his feet in the White House.

It is heartening to read and hear reports in major media outlets that because of a mixture of anger over Trump’s tariff threats and a falling Canadian dollar that is also due, in no small part, to those same threats, growing numbers of Canadians are cancelling vacations in Florida and that  even some Canadian ‘Snowbirds’  are  selling their property in that MAGA state and saying out loud that they will not spend their winters there again.

According to figures compiled by realtors in Florida, Canadians have, in the past, accounted for about a quarter of that state’s real-estate sales to foreign buyers so a Canadian exodus could add up to quite to the state’s economy.

Then there are all of the Florida products and vacation venues we can boycott, from Florida oranges and orange juice to vacations to Disneyworld, the Florida Keys, along with staying and playing at  all of those golf resorts and beach-front hotels.

If they want to put the screws to our country, then we should all stand up and say to hell with them.

There are other warm places in the world that we can visit. And there are other countries we can buy oranges from, like Spain and Morocco, and you don’t have to look that hard to find oranges from those two friendly countries in our grocery stores.

As for juice, who needs orange juice from Florida when we can drink apple juice produced from apples grown in our own country of Canada.

If enough of us put the squeeze on Florida’s economy by boycotting Everything Florida, then maybe even some of the most fanatical Trump supporters down there will cry out to their ‘Dear Leader’ to do what our newly elected federal Liberal leader and Prime Minister-designate Mark Carney recently said Trump should do with his tariff war – “Knock It Off!”

And now before I leave you, I can’t help but mention Wayne Gretzky, the former NHL hockey player and boy from Brantford, Ontario who many hockey fans still call “the Great One.”

Gretzky  is now a dual Canadian-American citizen with a home down in Palm Beach, Florida near Trump’s tacky Mar-a-Lago digs where he and the King of America have become pals.

Canadian hockey has-been Wayne Gretzy with his Palm Beach neighour and pal Donald Trump. It’s thumbs up for making Gretzky’s native Canada a “51st state,”

So much so that at a gathering shortly after Trump won his race for a second-term as U.S. president  last November, Trump tickled Gretzky with his idea of making Canada a “51st state” while mockingly referring to our prime minister as “governor,” and rather than taking exception to this, Gretzky reportedly just humored him along.

The threats of taking Canada over and slapping punishing tariffs that could cause real hardship for people in both countries continued after that November encounter, but that didn’t stop Gretzky from showing up as a guest of honour at Trump’s inauguration this past January.

Gretzky’s wife has since been quoted saying how “heartbroken” poor Wayne is to have old fans now in Canada booing him and writing him off as a traitor to his native country.

Wayne Gretzky, down in Trumpland sporting a MAGA hat. Hello ‘Great One’. have you given much though to Canada lately?

He’s heartbroken? How does he think we feel?

Gee whiz Wayne, let me get out my violin.

I have said it before on this news and commentary site and I will say it again.

I fully support my fellow Ontarians pressing Premier Doug Ford to completely remove wine and spirits produced at Gretzky’s  self-named estates in Niagara-on-the-Lake d from LCBO shelves, just as the premier recently ordered the removal from the shelves  all U.S.-produced wine and liquor as a response to Trump’s threats.

Until Gretzky has the guts to show a little   respect for his country of birth and publicly calls Trump out for his threats to Canada’s economic welfare and sovereignty, I also have no problem with calls from at least some of my fellow Canadians  to have him stripped of his Order of Canada and what is left of his Canadian citizenship.

Let the ‘Great One’ play golf and dine on greasy cheeseburgers  down in Florida with his great pal and enemy of Canada, Donald Trump.
