Niagara, Ontario – On Wednesday February 19th at 7:15 p.m. the Niagara District Council of Women Public   Zoom meeting will feature  a panel of speakers who will bring the “PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE”   of Niagara’s Trees  to life! 

First, Dr. John Bacher (PhD)  author of  2 Billion Trees and Counting –the Legacy of Edmond Zavitz, will  bring to light  the  exciting  history of Niagara’s  trees , such as  the richness  of our forests, tied to Niagara’s geology, the destructive impact of pioneers, and the importance of fruit growers in changing  public attitudes.

Then,  Geoffrey Verkade , Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority’s (NPCA) Senior Manager of Integrated Water Strategies ,will show how   NPCA’s present work  on a Federal Government’s Two Billion Trees (TBT) ,   “TREES FOR ALL”   project, aims to restore and improve our natural assets – water quality , wildlife habitat and forest cover in Niagara.

And finally Liz Benneian ,   founder and Chair of Biodiversity and Climate Action Niagara, and  Director of the  Ontariogreen Conservation Association will outline  the  public’s present  involvement in  tree protection and reforesting , as well as  educational  initiatives  to ensure present and future Regional Niagara  forest health , and all the benefits it provides Niagara.
