On This 60th Anniversary Of Flag Day, Let’s Continue Standing Together For A Canada Strong & Free

And Let’s Continue to Buy Local & Buy ‘Made In Canada’ Whenever & Whereever We Can!

This Saturday, February 15^th is Flag Day, celebrating the first time, 60 years ago, that Canadians saw our brand new red and white maple leaf flag rise on flag poles across the country.

On this Flag Day, when our Canada has never been so under attack from our “friends” south of the border since the War of 1812 (unless you want to count the Fenian Raids which saw a number of skirmishes between rogue bands of Americans and Canadian defenders in the Fort Erie area following the American Civil War of the 1860s), it is more important than ever that we show our flag with pride and let the Orange Monster to the south know that we want nothing to do with his dream of turning Canada into a 51^st state.

It is also a great opportunity for all Canadians to take our flag back from the right-wing extremists in our country who have tried to hijack it in recent years  as a symbol for whatever is their narrow, selfish definition of freedom – the freedom not to get vaccinated, the freedom to continue burning as much climate-ravaging fossil fuels as they want to continue using plastic straws and so on.

And while we are talking about hijacking our flag, let’s not forget the wrap-yourself-in-the-flag antics of Pierre Poilievre and his right-wing Conservative Party members  who echo the rhetoric of Donald Trump that Canada is “broken” mess of deadly drugs and criminal aliens flowing back and forth across the border and of a whole host of other bad and nasty  things that can only be fixed by a Trump-light “common sense” (a term Trump also used during his election campaign) leader like Poilievre moving in to the Prime Minister’s Office

So Happy Flag Day to All as I leave you with a video of Canadians singing the national anthem at hockey game this February 13th between Team Canada and Team Sweden which Canada won and will be playing (oh, oh) Team U.S.A this February 14. What a difference a threat like Trump can make to bring us together in a spirit of Canadian pride.
