A Most Fitting & Foreboding Song for the Eve of Trump’s Inauguration

‘You tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
How you don’t believe
We’re on the eve of destruction.’

There are some songs that are more relative today than they were when we first heard them.

With Trump’s inauguration to a second term as U.S. president just days away, a song called “Eve Of Destruction” by Barry McGuire is one of them.

Released in 1965, with a nuclear arms race in full throttle and civil rights and  anti-war protests playing out on streets and campuses across North America, McGuire’s hit song from 60 years ago could be the perfect soundtrack for the havoc Trump is promising to start wreaking  on his country, on Canada, and on other nations – including longtime friends and allies-  around the world  “on day one” of his presidency.
