A Brief One from Niagara At Large reporter/publisher Doug Draper
Posted New Year’s Eve, December 31st, 2024

The illustrators at Coca-Cola, a soft-drink that goes back to the late 1800s, have arguably done as much as author Clement Clarke Moore and the illustrators of his much-beloved early 1800s book ‘Twas’ The Night Before Christmas’ to shape the most popular, modern day image of Santa Claus in the western world.
I almost can’t believe I am doing this because I am no fan of television commercials and I have certainly never dreamed of posting one on this site (or on Facebook, if that’s where you go for NAL news and commentary).
But after all, this is (at least for another day or two) the Holiday Season when we yearn for a little fun and magic to escape from so much of the bad and ugly news that invades our lives the rest of the year.
In that spirit, this ad from Coca-Cola, called ‘ Holiday Magic’, with its polar bears, a majestic elk, a beautiful dog and sparkling Christmas lights glowing in the snow as a fleet of gleaming red Coke trucks glides by , hits the spot like a nice cool bottle of Coke after a long jog or working up a sweat on an ice rink or the ski slopes.
I have to admit that I am totally captivated by the “magic” this one. To watch it, click on the screen immediately below –
So there, with more than a little help from artificial intelligence techniques, is some Holiday Magic for us. Those advertisers at Coke sure now sure now how to do, as one of their slogans go, “the real thing,” don’t they?
For better or worse, Niagara At Large will get back to the more serious news and commentary in the New Year. Please keep supporting NAL with your visits to http://www.niagaraatllarge.com, and tell all your relatives, friends and associates to do the same.
