Niagara, Ontario – For the 12th consecutive year, Niagara Region has been recognized for meeting the highest principles of government budgeting by receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
A panel of independent reviewers examined the Region’s annual budget document for 2024 and have determined that Niagara Region’s Financial Management and Planning Division met the high standards set for this award.
The award represents a significant achievement by the Region. To receive the budget award, the Regional municipality met nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget communications.
These guidelines are designed to assess how well an organization’s budget serves as:
- A policy document
- A financial plan
- An operations guide; and
- A communications device
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest award in governmental budgeting.
