Yet Another Extreme Heat Record … Broken!

‘But, (Ontario Premier) Doug Ford refuses to heed the warnings and present a credible climate action plan.’

A Message from Ontario’s Green Party

Posted July 26th, 2024 on Niagara At Large

For over a year, temperature records across the globe have been shattered by the one-two punch of the climate emergency and the most recent El Niño event. We’ve had so many broken records that the media hardly bother reporting on them any more.

On Monday, however, the global mean surface temperature set yet a new modern record of 17.16°C.

Whether it’s last year’s record forest fires in northern Ontario or large areas of downtown Toronto under water last week after its third “100-year storm” in a decade, the impact of the climate emergency is being felt now.

But, Doug Ford refuses to heed the warnings and present a credible climate action plan.

The consequences of doing nothing are unimaginable.

However, with an early election seeming more and more likely, we may have an opportunity to pass judgment on Ford’s inaction sooner rather than later.

As Greens, it’s our job to find a way through this mess. Your support has had a real and meaningful impact by helping to elect a Green caucus at Queen’s Park. Making a contribution today will help us accelerate preparations for the most consequential election ever in 2025.

We might have fewer than 250 days before an early election. By investing in our urgent campaign preparations right now (https://secure.gpo.ca/civicrm/mailing/url?u=200699&qid=102196698), you can help to send Doug Ford and his environmental wrecking crew packing next spring.
