We Can Still Stop The Ford Government’s Proposed Highway 413

Ford Continues Pushing The Worst Kind of Development – Development That Places Ontario’s Greenbelt And Ever More Of Our Precious Natural Heritage In Peril

You’ve probably already heard about the irreversible damage of the Ford government’s) proposed Highway 413.

This six-lane, 52-kilometre highway would have devastating impacts on nature and farmland –

  • Paving over 400 acres of the Greenbelt and more than 2,000 acres of Ontario’s most productive farmland
  • Impacting 29 species at risk
  • Crossing over 85 rivers and streams
  • Destroying or partially destroying 75 wetlands
  • Fragmenting highly vulnerable aquifers
  • Emitting more than 17 million tonnes of additional CO2 emissions by 2050

Highway 413 would come with an alarming cost.

Fortunately, the federal government has amended the Impact Assessment Act such that it can redesignate Highway 413 for an environmental assessment.

Please join Ontario Nature and more than 5,100 other Ontarians in urging the Government of Canada to step in and fulfill its obligations to protect waterways, habitats, at-risk species, migratory birds and fish.
