A Wish to All for a Summer of Peace with Good People Around You, from Doug Draper

Here we are already, doing whatever our thing is on the first full day of summer.
Spring, with all of its flowery magic of everything turning from brown to green, has come and gone so quickly, as it always does.

And so has that family of geese I photographed barely a month or so ago along the shores of Martindale Pond, in Port Dalhousie’s Rennie Park. Those goslings grow up so quickly too.
Now summer is here and while – in this age of climate crisis – the forecasts call for the possibility of another season of record-breaking heat, along with more of the extreme boughts of wind, drought, rainstorms and wildfire that go with it, I still love this time of year over digging out of snow and ice on those short days and all-too-long nights of winter.
I also love all those summer songs and here is one of many favourites of mine that I would like to share with you here .
It was one of the many great, shart-topping songs written by John Sebastian and recorded by the The Lovin’ Spoonful, the mostly American band he was in during the Beatles era of the 1960s.
When I say mostly American, the lead guitarist playing the power chords on this particular song, one that has continued to get good play through the generations, was Canadian-born Sal Yanovsky.
