Help 50by30 Niagara Shut Down Climate-Ravaging Fossil Fuels In Our Region!

YOUR PRESENCE AT UPCOMING MUNICIPAL COUNCIL MEETINGS WILL GREATLY MATTER

A Call-Out to All Niagara residents from 50by30 Niagara, a region-wide citizens group fighting for a cleaner, healthier environment for us all

Posted March 20th, 2024 on Niagara At Large

As you know we’ve been writing and talking about the Ontario Energy Board’s decision which requires Enbridge to charge the full connection fee for their gas lines up front, instead of amortizing it over 40 years time, as Enbridge wants to do.

If allowed, Enbridge would continue to expand the gas network for 40 years and counting, which is just incredibly irresponsible.

We’ve been contacting and working with local municipal councillors, and we have been making real and significant progress.

Motions in support of the ‘Subsidy Cut’ are going to the Niagara Region this Thursday, at 7pm; then to Pelham Council on March 27th (next Wednesday), and St Catharines Council April 8th.

If you are available, it would be great to see you at these council meetings. We have good reason to believe that we will be successful in our work, but we need to show up and be present.

Thursday’s (March 21st) Niagara Region Council meeting starts at 6:30pm – 1815 Sir Isaac Brock Way (just in Thorold near the campus of Brock University).

You Are Invited To Our Next Climate Justice Cafe:
Thursday April 4, at 7pm at Mahtay Café on St. Paul Street in Downtown St. Catharines
