Ford government’s planned Highway 413 would cut through Ontario’s Greenbelt and other natural heritage that are home to numerous threatened and endangered wildlife species.
The Ford government’s Get it Done Act will weaken Ontario’s environmental assessment regime to clear the way for infrastructure mega-projects like super-sprawl Highway 413.
That means the survival of as many as 29 at-risk species living in the path of Highway 413 will be in jeopardy. Decades of work to restore their habitat and populations will be squandered to serve Ford’s sprawl agenda.
The Highway 413 bulldozers will destroy one of the last habitats of the short-eared owl in Southern Ontario. This beautiful bird’s population across Canada has fallen by 90 percent since 1966.
Please don’t allow Ford and his development industry pals pave over my home.
We can save Ontario’s short-eared owls.
The short-eared owl was once abundant in Ontario. But as we pave over more and more of the natural grasslands and fields where they hunt, we’ll push them out of existence in this province.
