Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley,
Regional Chair Jim Bradley offered the following statement following news of the federal government’s investment of $25.7 million from the Housing Accelerator Fund in St. Catharines:
“I am pleased to see the federal government’s investment of over $25 million into the City of St. Catharines to fast track the construction of new homes.
“Over the next 10 years, more than 12,000 homes will be built in part due to this generous funding, representing a significant impact on our goal to ensure there is more attainable and affordable housing.
While this is a city project, the Region is always pleased to see any announcement that increases the supply of housing in our community.
“On behalf of Regional Council, I want to thank the federal government for their substantial contribution to Niagara, and their ongoing cooperation with municipalities across the country.”

“This is fantastic news for the City of St. Catharines. The Housing Accelerator Fund is set to support the City in implementing a range of fresh initiatives aimed at boosting the approval of housing units, ensuring that more individuals have a place to call home,” said Mayor Mat Siscoe.
“I want to thank the federal government for working collaboratively with municipalities to tackle the housing crisis. Clearly we are capable of conquering greater challenges when we all work together.”
