How do you feel our Niagara region should be governed in the years ahead?
Do you believe that the 12 local municipalities we have now should be cut down to possibly four or three?
Maybe you would like to get rid of local municipalities altogether and just have one ‘City of Niagara’ rather than have 12 or fewer local or lower-tier municipalities and a regional government.
Perhaps you agree with Ontario Premier Doug Ford and a number of Niagara’s local politicians and citizens that our region has “too many politicians.”
Or maybe you would prefer that Niagara’s current two-tier system of government, including the local municipality you live in stay as it is.

City of Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati is among the more than 20 parties so far registered to make a presentation before the committee. He appears to be leaning toward a Niagara with fewer local municipalities and councils, and fewer politicians
If the fate of municipal governance in Niagara is an issue of concern to you, you may want to attend a public hearing being held by an all-party standing committee of the Ontario government this Wednesday, January 10th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with an hour off for lunch at noon) at the Holiday Inn and Suites on 327 Ontario Street in St. Catharines .
If you can’t attend physically, you may still be able to watch the hearings at home if you have a Cogeco Cable TV package that allows you to tune in to Channel 700.
More than 20 individuals and groups are so far registered to speak at the hearings, including St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe, Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati and Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley.
