As we watch Doug Ford twist in the wind of his many and varied land use scandals – Greenbelt, MZOs, urban boundaries – another massive blunder is unfolding in the background.
Ignoring the growing signs of climate breakdown, the Ford government continues to double down on fossil gas plants to power Ontario.
Since taking office, this government has grossly mismanaged Ontario’s energy supply – cancelling hundreds of renewable energy projects and slashing efficiency programs that help Ontarians save money by saving energy.
Other provinces and countries are moving full-speed ahead with investments in energy efficiency and cheap, safe renewables – hydro, wind, solar – that boost their economies and crush climate pollution.
Meanwhile, Ford has ensured that Ontario will continue to be powered by expensive, polluting fossil gas. Fossil fuels already compare poorly to renewables. By 2034, when the first of these plants are scheduled to close, they’ll seem ridiculous.
THE ROAD TO A CLEANER, GREENER ONTARIO IS CLEAR. BUT THE FORD GOVERNMENT IS ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL.
Tell Ford To Invest In Our Future.
Ontario Greens believe in building for the future. We’re calling on Premier Ford and Energy Minister Todd Smith to drop their costly fossil gas plan and invest in safe, inexpensive and clean energy solutions.
