The Very Ugly Verbal Attacks and Vandalism Aimed at our Politicians is Wrong. But Our Governments Also Need to do More to Address the Causes of the Growing Anger Out There.

Canadian Speaker of the House and federal Liberal Party hack Anthony Rota is thankuflly vacating his throne in the House this September 27th, 2023 after embarrassing the country in front of the world.
This past Friday, September 22nd seemed – at least for a little while, to be one of the better days for a beleaguered Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government.
It was the day that Ukrainian President and champion for democracy Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Canada’s Parliament and parliamentarians of all political stripes – in a rare moment of unity – demonstrated support for Ukraine’s continued struggle for freedom and sovereignty against Russia’s murderous Putin regime.
Then, just a few days later, we find out that the House of Common’s Trudeau appointed Speaker of the House – a Liberal hack from north Ontario named Anthony Rota – paid tribute during Zelenksyy’s visit to the House to what he described as a Second World War veteran from Ukraine (but now living in his region of Ontario) who he said fought the Russians during that war.
For that this veteran, who was sitting in the gallery while Zelenskyy was there, received a boisterous standing ovation from everyone, including the Ukrainian president who no doubt assumed he was on the side of those fighting against fascism.
Just a few days later news surfaced that this veteran, who Rota was reportedly responsible for single-handedly inviting to Parliament for this special occasion with Zelenskyy, was fighting on the side of Hitler’s Nazis in a unit of the Waffen-SS – an SS with a notorious a record, whether this particular veteran was directly involved or nto, for rounding up Jewish people and others for a journey to the death camps.
This Trudeau-appointed House Speaker, who has now resigned, obviously did little or no vetting to determine what kind of Second World War veteran this individual was and because of that he put an awful stain on a day that should have been a desperately needed good one for Trudeau and his flailing Liberal government.
Just what Trudeau needed, just days after he and his Liberals were centered out in front of the world at a United Nations summit for their pathetic record around reducing carbon emissions and shifting away from fossil fuelsat a time ofcatastrophic climate-related disasters.
Almost anyone who is paying attention to the news knows that there is a lot of ugly anger out there these days aimed at politicians at all levels of government.
This poisonous vitriol, expressing itself in ‘Fxxx Trudeau flags’ and in disturbing social media messages aimed at elected representatives at the federal, provincial and municipal levels, is completely unacceptable in this journalist’s view.
If you don’t like what our government representatives are doing, there are far more civil ways of letting them know, including firing them at election time.
Yet our politicians, from Trudeau on down to provincial leaders like Doug Ford and municipal leaders across Ontario, also need to take a good hard look at why there is so much anger out there.
The outrageous cost of food, user fees and taxes and of housing that is pushing more and more people out on the streets and to food banks, along with wages for many that are not livable certainly has something to do with it.
And where are our political leaders when it comes to taking real action to address these crippling costs and the climate emergency that is compromising our survival on this planet today?
The answer is practically nowhere.

Canada’s Prime Mnister and his Liberals continue to fail in front of the world on addressing the climate crisis .
